Let’s admit it, the constant notifications from players looking to chat or have you join their party is the most annoying thing while playing Xbox One. We understand that Xbox Live enables players from around the world to communicate, but that isn’t always what we intend to do when we use the console. A lot of times we just wish to play games undisturbed. And the good news is that the Xbox One does has a features that lets us do exactly that! It has a few different settings that allow you to avoid getting pestered, even when you’re connected to Xbox Live. Here we discuss in detail everything you need to know about how to appear offline on Xbox One.
Option 1: Appear offline to everyone
If you do not want any type of disturbance then you can opt got the option of appearing offline to everyone, including any friends. Once you signed into Xbox Live, hit the Xbox button on your controller. This will take you to the quick menu.
Here click on your profile image. This option is towards the left side and you will need some scrolling to arrive at it. Now a drop-down menu will appear. In this menu, select, “appear offline’ and that’s it! You are now invisible for everyone!
There is another way of doing it too. You can simply change your online status by going to your full profile. Here the option of appearing offline lies at the top-right corner.
Option 2: Customize your online status
However sometimes you want to appear online to your friends, but not to random stranger. And you can activate this feature by changing the privacy settings of your Microsoft account.
Go to your Xbox One settings. Here at the left side you will see the “account” option. Select it and choose the “privacy & online safety” tile from the menu to the right.
Now a new page will appear and you will see a few preset privacy options for different types of players. The “adult defaults” option is to make your online status viewable to all users, including friends and everyone else. The “teen defaults” and “child default” options limit online status to friends. These choices have additional restrictions around viewing mature content online. So it is advisable to choose the “custom” option if you are just looking to keep the noise down.
After selecting the “custom” option, select “view details & customize”. This will take you to the “online status & history” page. Now select the drop-down menu under the “others can see if you’re online” option.
Here you have the choice to allow everyone to see, just your friends, and no one at all, if you’re a complete hermit. This page also gives you the option to change who can see what you’re watching or listening to but those who can’t see your online status will not be able to see these activities.
